Summary of AHeadStart
The secret of getting ahead is getting started
- AHeadStart provides one-on-one and small group tuition in all Maths, English, Science and Commerce subjects.
- AHeadStart provides personalised tutoring for each individual student. The areas a student needs strengthening are identified and then a customised series of tutorials is developed. The student is provided with immediate and positive feedback to help them stay on track. Tuition begins with an initial assessment, which is followed by foundation and reinforcement.
- AHeadStart assists secondary school students in Years 9 to 13, particularly those studying towards New Zealand NCEA Levels 1-3. Tuition towards the Cambridge International Examinations (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) is also available.
- AHeadStart assists primary school students in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science and Coding.
- AHeadStart can assist adult students towards the NZ Police and NZ Defence Force entrance exams, SATs, MCAT, GMAT and first year tertiary studies for polytech (Ara Institute) and university (University of Canterbury and Lincoln University).

Our vision for the future
We live in a rapidly progressing world where technology is changing the way we work and study. Science and technology play a significant role in everyday life, so a solid grounding in science and mathematical skills is essential. Learning these subjects at school and in tertiary studies helps develop critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to solve problems creatively, work cooperatively in teams, and use technology effectively.
While science and technology are hugely important, this means nothing without effective communication and an ability to manage money. English and language skills will always be essential, as well as an understanding of commerce – both accounting and economics.
AHeadStart believes all students can aim to contribute towards a brighter, more confident New Zealand society that values life-long learning.

AHeadStart aims to guide students so they reach their full potential in a positive learning environment. We firmly believe that although many students struggle with their subjects at school, with expert guidance and encouragement all students have the ability to succeed in any field they choose. One-on-one tuition allows students to ask questions without feeling judged by peers and gain confidence in their abilities in all fields of study.
Our aim is to help every student discover their own individual learning style, so that learning is enjoyable, interesting, as well as ultimately successful. Students prepared with life-long skills for learning will find it easier and be more motivated to succeed.

Life-long learning is one of the keys to success, no matter what path a student chooses. All our tutors are passionate about their subjects and are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with every student. We recognise that students should be engaged in the learning process. We aim to help each student think for themselves and develop skills to take charge of their own learning.

At AHeadStart we understand that learning is not always easy. We feel it's important that our tutors teach students to understand that everyone fails at one point or another. When school becomes challenging or stressful for a student, their tutor will encourage them to never give up. If a student is finding a concept difficult to grasp we will start at the beginning and build up our student's understanding, using a range of teaching methods. We firmly believe that with hard work all students have the ability to succeed.
