Isla

Hey, my name is Isla and I’m currently a second-year Bachelor of Laws student at the University of Canterbury. I tutor English (including IGCSE), History, Geography, Media Studies, and Business Studies.  

I’ve always really enjoyed my school and university studies. I was Excellence endorsed across NCEA Levels 1, 2, and 3, earning Excellence subject endorsements in most of my subjects. I was lucky enough to receive NCEA Scholarships in Geography (x2), History, Media Studies, and Religious Studies. Additionally, I was honoured with Proxime Accessit and the Year 12 Top Scholar at St Paul’s Collegiate.  

Outside of my study, I play competitive tennis and enjoy going to the gym. Since moving to Christchurch, I’ve loved getting to know the city and going on walks with friends. 

It is my goal that my students feel comfortable and confident in both my lessons and their own classrooms. I strive to create a supportive environment where they feel able to ask questions, share ideas, and take risks in their learning. I also focus on encouraging their strengths and helping them build the skills they need to succeed independently.
