The visual arts are art forms such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography. Within the visual arts are the applied arts such as graphic design, fashion design and interior design.
Level 1
Visual Arts at Level 1 allows students to learn about artists, work with a range of artistic media and develop ideas. This is assessed by a two-panel folio that incorporates a range of pieces in different media that are linked by the same theme.
Level 2‘
At Level 2, the subject separates into the different strands of Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture. All of these have requirements for an art portfolio to show the development of ideas in a related series of pieces, along with an understanding established practice methods and design, drawing methods applied to the media's conventions.
Level 3
At Level 3, the subject separates into the different strands of Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture. All of these have requirements for an art portfolio to show the integration of art conventions and regenerates ideas within the medium, along with an analysis of established practice methods and design, drawing methods applied to the media's conventions.
