Sophia

Kia Ora! My name is Sophia. I tutor several subjects, including Commerce, Economics, Statistics, and English, for students ranging from primary school to NCEA Level 3. I am currently moving into my second year of study at the University of Canterbury, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in Marketing. Alongside my intrigue in the world of business and economics, I have a strong passion for English, which I have continued to pursue recreationally and as an elective in my degree. 

I graduated from Garin College in Nelson in 2024, where I served as a performing arts leader. I achieved excellence endorsements in my subjects throughout NCEA, with excellence endorsement overall for NCEA levels 2 and 3. I was also a recipient of the Garin Gold academic award in 2023 and 2024. I was awarded distinction in English twice during my six years of study at Garin College. I feel strongly about the importance of education and have always enjoyed the opportunity to learn something new. I received tutoring over the years, which I found so helpful, so I'm grateful to now pass on my knowledge and help other students as I once was. 

In my spare time, I love playing and listening to music, reading, writing, thrifting, and seeing friends. Music has been a big part of my life, I love performing and playing multiple instruments, for which I have taken several years of exams. 

I look forward to meeting and helping students with their studies this year, so they enjoy school and achieve their goals!
