Ruby

Kia Ora, I’m Ruby and I am here to help students in Classics, English, History, Chemistry, Mathematics and Calculus. I am currently in my second year of study at the University of Canterbury, working towards completing a Bachelor of Environmental Science with honours. 

I grew up and went to school in Auckland, then moved down to Christchurch at the start of 2021 for university. In high school I achieved each year with NCEA Excellence endorsements as well as many Excellence endorsements in individual subjects. I sat two Scholarship exams, History and Classics, and achieved both of them, as well as receiving an outstanding in Classics (only 9 outstanding Classics scholarships were achieved in New Zealand). UC awarded me with the Hiranga scholarship for academic excellence at the end of my high school studies. 

I am passionate about the environment and sustainability hence my studies in Environmental Science, but I am also passionate about the social sciences as well. Alongside Environmental Science, as electives I have been taking Classical studies papers to satisfy my interest. I believe that I will be fitting to help a student with a passion for the social and pure sciences succeed and grow as a learner and I am excited to grow alongside them! 

In my spare time I love to hike with my friends and family all around New Zealand as well as generally just spend time outdoors in nature. Swimming in the ocean and lying in the sun while reading is my absolute favourite thing to do so I have read a fair few books in my time and love receiving new book recommendations!
