Kia Ora :)
My name is Katie, and I tutor NCEA Chemistry, Biology, General Science, English, and Sports Science. I am currently in my third year of studying a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Food Science. I am deeply passionate about science and the future of the food and fiber industry, which is why I thoroughly enjoy my studies.
I grew up on a dairy farm in the Waikato and graduated from high school in 2021 with NCEA Level 2 and 3 with excellence endorsement. I have cherished my move to Christchurch to attend Lincoln University on their Future Leaders scholarship program. In my first year, I was honoured to be recognized as the top Bachelor of Science student.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy running and walking, especially after a busy day or when I have a lot on my mind. I participated in competitive adventure racing and hockey during school, which is where I found my love for being active. Additionally, I enjoy reading, cooking, and will never say no to a good coffee - although my dairy farming parents have yet to accept my preference for oat milk. I am also a fanatic organizer and love ticking things off my various to-do lists.
I enjoy collaborating with others and have previous experience in tutoring. During my schooling, I discovered that the key to success lies in understanding. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the seemingly endless content, so as a tutor, my goal is to identify your learning style to grow understanding and enhance academic success.
